Sterilization & Disinfection

Sterilization & Disinfection

Welcome Back!

As with everyone in our community, we are trying to figure out what the new normal will be. While many things have changed, our commitment to providing you with the best care possible remains the same. We want to thank all of you for supporting our small business and our devoted team throughout this difficult period.

Infection control has always been a priority to our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.

We want to let you know about the changes we are making to our office protocols to keep everyone safe. As with all virus outbreaks, infection control is the most fundamental weapon in preventing spread. We take sterilization and standard precautions very seriously. These are the changes that we will institute and adhere to in order to maintain social distancing.

  • We will ask you to wait in your car until you are called into the office. This will require you to bring a cell phone to your appointment so that we can contact you when your examination room is ready
  • We will take your temperature prior to seating you in a dental chair to verify that you do not have a fever
  • We will ask you to acknowledge and sign a document stating that you are not exhibiting any of the common symptoms of COVID-19
  • We ask that all of our patients come to the office wearing masks.
  • We will supply a mouth rinse to be used prior to being seated for your appointment
  • We will stagger appointment times so as to minimize traffic in the office
  • We will have hand washing or sanitizer available as you walk into the office
  • We wish to minimize people passing in the waiting room so stop to view the office before entry through doorway.
  • We will be using new PPE, (including n95 masks, gowns, face shields, and goggles as available and needed). This will protect us and protect you.
  • All procedures will have HVE suction, which reduces aerosols by 98%
  • Aerosol producing procedures will be temporarily reduced during hygiene appointments
  • All disinfectants we use kill all viruses on contact
  • We ask that for copay or payments for planned treatment be taken over the phone preferably before your appointment
  • Please contact us if you develop symptoms after visiting our office.

We will revise our protective protocols should we receive updated guidelines issued by the CDC. We take CDC guidance very seriously and will strictly adhere to any guidance they provide. In order to effectively manage any change in protocol and to keep yourself and others safe, we are asking you to do the following:

  • Keep in touch. Communication during this time is vital and we ask you to please stay connected to us so that we can give provide you with any updated instructions and information. If you have a preferred method of contact (text, email, phone call), please let us know.
  • Wear a mask to your appointment
  • If you are feeling sick, stay home and we will gladly reschedule your appointment
  • If you are due for a cleaning or you have treatment that had to be postponed because of the shut-down, please call us. While we will make every effort to contact you, we are backlogged and are trying to catch up. We promise to do our absolute best to provide you with the finest dental care.

We look forward to seeing you all.

All the best,

Dr. James Ohman,DDS
